I am a Certified Elite Canine Athlete Specialist with over 25 years of experience in dog training and fitness. Through training under Erica Boling at the Northeast Canine Conditioning Academy, along with additional certifications in Canine Fitness and Massage, I specialize in conditioning, injury prevention, and optimizing a dog’s athletic performance.

I’ve competed in various dog sports, including IGP, Agility, Obedience, Conformation, Rally-O, and Dock Diving, and I’m passionate about keeping dogs fit and healthy to perform at their best for as long as possible. I bred and trained the #1 Rottweiler in Canada in 2011, and have always focused on canine structure, movement, and injury prevention to ensure long, successful careers in dog sports.

Currently, I train my German Shepherd, Delilah, who overcame a serious injury to become a multiple High in Trial winner, as well as the Top German Shepherd in North America in Dock Diving in 2021. Her journey inspires my work in helping other dogs achieve their full potential.

Whether your dog is just starting out or a seasoned competitor, I can help you evaluate their fitness, create a targeted training plan, and implement strengthening, flexibility, and conditioning exercises. Together, we’ll help your dog perform better, stay injury-free, and reach their goals for many years to come.

Sandra’s passion is showing people how to ‘speak dog’. She loves to teach the human side of the dog/handler team to learn to listen to what the dog needs from the partnership. Sandra has been with K9 Central since 2019. She is an instructor in the basic manners program and agility. She is a certified trick dog instructor, certified in canine freestyle and animal first aid. When Sandra isn’t studying up on the newest training techniques, she is training and competing with her dogs, Marley, Havok and Kaos. Although she will say that the three of them have taught her more than she has or will ever teach them. They compete in disc, dock, agility and flyball and do the occasional performance show. All of Sandra’s dogs have earned titles in their sports and tricks.

I’ve been working at K9 Central since Fall of 2021! I am a Supervisor in the daycare/boarding department of our facility and within the last 1-1.5 years I’ve been an assistant trainer in our group classes. Although I love all kinds of training, my favourite is to work with the “Dogs With Big Feelings” as we say! My favourite place in this facility is our “K9 Suites” program where I get to meet all kinds of unique personalities. There’s truly nothing more heartwarming than making friends with a dog who takes time, bonding, and true trust to win over. I have one dog of my own, a German Shepherd Mix named Idony! A rescue of course, the misunderstood will always win over my heart. It’s been such a journey training my own dog. Tricks, obedience, dabbling in some sports (as much as we can with her “Big Feelings”), and her reactivity training. Learning the in and outs of how she feels and why she feels this way is so rewarding and I have plans of becoming a dog behaviourist in hopes of helping other owners find this same rewarding feeling when they can finally understand their dogs intentions. I have been out of school working full time at K9 Central for the past couple years, enjoying being surrounded by dogs and finding my passions, but this September I am off to University to study Kinesiology as I plan on being a Canine Chiropractor as well! But don’t worry, I am still around part-time (and usually my days off) working at and hanging around K9!

I could talk about my own dog or my love for reactive dogs for forever, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love other types of training too. I love seeing any owner hit milestones and succeed, that includes all of the wonderful people I meet in our group classes! Basic obedience is such an important part of having a well-behaved and loved companion and I am always honoured to help owners get to the point of having the dog of their dreams.

Lorrie Brooks discovered her passion for agility when a rescue dog needed a job, and now she dedicates her time to helping other dogs thrive in the sport. All of her dogs, including her 12-year-old Bearded Collie, train and compete in agility. Lorrie’s commitment to agility is evident in her role as an instructor, where she assists with training and teaches Tuesday and Wednesday classes. She continually seeks out new methods and techniques to support the dogs in her classes, recognizing that each dog is unique and deserves an individualized approach.
